Since 1923, Goldsmith’s Boat Shop has been  a family owned and operated full service marina, located on the picturesque eastern end of Long Island, New York. We are dedicated to providing our customers with everything they need to have an enjoyable, and affordable, boating experience. Goldsmith’s Boat Shop has a long and storied past that dates back over 102 years! Alvah Goldsmith established Goldsmith’s Boat Shop in 1923, and it has been in the family ever since. From its humble beginnings in the back of a garage, Goldsmith’s Boat Shop grew to two marinas located in beautiful Southold, New York, on the eastern end of Long Island.

Goldsmith’s Boat Shop became an Evinrude dealer in 1923. Alvah Goldsmith purchased his first Elto Motor in 1922. He wrote an enthusiastic letter to Ole Evinrude regarding the Elto Motor he had purchased. He received a letter back from Ole Evinrude asking if he would like to be the representative in the area. At the time, the only thing Alvah had to do to be a dealer was to purchase another motor for display. Despite his father’s protests, Alvah purchased another motor, and sold them off the front porch of his home in Peconic; and the rest is history. In 1931, Alvah relocated his shop, and built a marina from the ground up, at Founder’s Landing in Southold.

Goldsmith’s Boat Shop played a vital role in the history of the United States. During World War II, Goldsmith’s Boat Shop built plane re-arming boats for the US Navy from our Founder’s Landing location. During the height of the war, thirty men worked day and night to build 138 plane re-arming boats ranging in size from 25 – 33 feet, contributing a small, but vital, piece to the war effort.

In 1947, Alvah purchased an old brick yard located on Mill Creek in Southold, and created another marina. The old chimney from the days of the brick yard still stands tall today. In July 1976, Boating Industry Magazine concluded a survey that named Goldsmith’s Boat Shop, “Oldest Continuously Operating U.S. Pleasure Boating Dealership.” In 1984, we were recognized by Evinrude as the “Nation’s Oldest Evinrude Dealer.”

Goldsmith’s Boat Shop is a full-service marina that has everything to satisfy your boating needs. We are located on more than sixteen acres along Mill Creek in Southold, with 110 slips in the water for boats up to 35 feet in length. Our slips are all easy access floating docks, with water and electric available. We are centrally located around great cruising destinations like Greenport, Shelter Island, and Sag Harbor. Some of the best fishing destinations are right on our doorstep. Great fishing spots like Plum Gut, The Race, and Montauk are only a short cruise away.

Our service department offers complete maintenance on all major brands of outboards and inboard/outboards with our factory trained and certified technicians. We are an authorized service center for Yamaha and Evinrude outboards. Our technicians are some of the best, and most well trained, in the industry. We are extremely proud and fortunate to have technicians who have achieved the status of Master Technician with Evinrude, as well as Advanced Technician and Five Star Gold Factory Certified status with Yamaha. We are one of only two Yamaha dealers on Long Island, and one out of 99 Yamaha dealers across the country to be recognized as a Yamaha Marine Service Pro Elite dealer. Our dock side lift, forklifts, and hydraulic trailer are capable of handling boats up to 35 feet in length. At our service department, you can trust that your boat and motor are in the very capable hands of professionals who have the latest training and equipment available in the industry.

We have a full line of Yamaha parts and accessories, as well as a full line of BRP Evinrude / Johnson parts and accessories, available in our parts department. Our ship store carries everything from Coast Guard equipment and water sports to engine parts and electronics. Our fuel dock is open 7 days a week with premium fuel available for your convenience. We have everything you need to outfit your boat and spend more time on the water.
